Ronnie
Glavin:
Had an illustrious professional career, winning the Scottish League Cup
with Partick Thistle, against all the odds against Celtic in 1971-72, then
Championships and the Scottish FA Cup with Celtic, before moving to Barnsley,
and becoming a hero to the locals there. He also won an International Cap
for Scotland. Finished his career with Stockport County after a spell in
Portugal and also spent a time as Youth Team Coach at Oakwell. Now he has
made a successful second career for himself, working for Nike. He started
his managerial career with Frickley Athletic, before taking over at Emley
in 1994. He has since then transformed the Club's fortunes, the undoubted
highlight being the FA Cup run of 1997-98 which was only ended by Premiership
side, West Ham.
Paul
Cuss: New
signing for this season after being released by Huddersfield Town at the
end of last season.
Steve
Nicholson
(Right Back): Former Leeds United apprentice, signed by Billy Bremner.
Unable to break into the side, left and became a fireman. Now one of the
best full-backs in the league, and a fine penalty taker when needed. Captains
the team after taking over from Ian Banks, he was signed from Farsley Celtic
in Nov 1994.
Simon
Jones
(Left Back): Jonah has turned into a solid and dependable left back, after
starting out on the wing. He also fancies himself as a 'keeper and once
deputised for Chris Marples and kept a clean sheet for half an hour. Club's
longest serving player – he was signed from local football.
Paul
David
( Central Defender): Signed from Bradley Rovers in 1992 and able to fill
any position asked of him and look comfortable there. Regards Central Defence
as his best position. Man of the match and goal scorer in the FA Cup match
at West Ham.
Miles
Thorpe
( Forward): Strong forward signed in the 1998 close season from Frickley
Athletic. His debut was delayed by surgery to cure a long standing
injury but is now enjoying his best spell whilst at Emley. A firm favourite
with his colleagues and the supporters.
Robert
Tonks
( Midfield):Can play midfield,
attack or defence. Showing great promise for the future and becoming a
very important member of the first team. Has scored goals at vital times
for the club.
Nicky
Wood
( Defender): Nicky spent much of the 97-98 season on the bench, or filling
in where needed in defence. He is now maturing into a fine reliable defender
who is benefiting from regular first team football.
Simeon
Bambrook:
Re-signed from Garford Town during 1999/2000 season. Simeon will add firepower
to the front line.
Charlie
Bradshaw:
Signed again last season after spending some time away at Droylsden. Charlie
is an awkward player who causes defenders problems with his height advantage.
Darren
Day:
Signed last season from NCE outfit Ossett Albion. Danny scored 20 goals
in his first season in the higher league.
Gary
Hatto:
Close season signing from Frickley Athletic. Gary is a seasoned campaigner
who will add a wealth of experience to the side.
Jamie
Robshaw:
Signed from Denaby United in 1999. Jamie is an exciting prospect with ambitions
to go higher in football. He is strong on the ball and will surprise a
few defenders. He is a scorer of vital goals and leads the line well.
Andy
Wilson:
Signed in 1999 from Ossett Albion. He has had limited appearances in the
first team but hopes are high that he will mature as he gains experience.
