Altrincham Player of the Year Awards
for 1999/2000 Season
The Player of the Year Awards were deferred from Wednesday 3 May, when after the
defeat by Kingstonian, the Club felt too deflated to hold them. After being
condemned to relegation on 6 May, preparations were made for the awards, only
for Director, Mark Harris, to announce that 'at the request of the Club', they
would be held in the bar sometime later that evening.
The fans refused to accept this proposal and called for the awards to take place, as scheduled on the pitch, immediately. The team was then summoned from the changing room and emerged, led by Simeon Hodson (see right) in some cases, minus boots, to a chorus of cheers from the remaining fans.
The Players of the Year, as voted by the fans, were
- (1) Danny Adams,
- (2) Gary Talbot
- (3) Kevin Ellison.
Danny Adams also won the Junior Robins award and the Players' Player award. Presentations were also made to the joint Men of the Match versus Kidderminster Harriers, Keith Russell and Gary Talbot.

Altrincham's new kit for next season was paraded, left, by Stuart Coburn, Barry Crowe and Dean Greygoose before the match. Supporters'votes were taken for the away strip, with the blue version heading into a good lead.
